●ジャングサ−沖縄を取り巻く水中の草原−
海草は海で生育する種子植物です。彼らの祖先は陸生として進化し、その後、海の生息場所に戻りました。沖縄では、海草は「ジャングサ」と呼ばれます。それは「ジャン」−ジュゴンの地方名− の草という意味です。海草の生息場所は主に浅瀬の砂底で、柔らかい波と日光のある所です。その水中の草原はシーグラスベッドと呼ばれています。

Jan-gusa Underwater grassland Okinawa
Sea grasses are spermatophytes that grow in the sea. Their ancestor evolved
as living, and returned to the biotope of the sea afterwards. It is called
“jan-gusa” in Okinawa. In “gusa", the grass is meant, and “jan"
is dugong's alias. The biotope of sea grass is a place in which a soft
wave and sunlight exist chiefly in the sand bottom in the shoal. Meadow
is called “sea grass bed”.
